Tofail blasts BNP for attempt to make KCC polls controversial

BHOLA, May 20, 2018 (BSS)-Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday blasted BNP for its ill attempts to make the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls controversial and said that KCC election was held in a free and fair manner that was praised by the people all over the country.

"BNP is a political party which has no policy . . . it is now trying to make the KCC polls controversial though the elections were held in a free and fair manner," said Tofail while speaking at a programme here.

It was organized at Ilisha Union of Sadar Upazila to distribute rice among fishermen under VGF programme. Tofail handed over 40-kg rice to each of 3,200 fishermen under the programme.

Tofail said BNP is dreaming that there would be a caretaker government in this country but it would not be fulfilled. The next parliament elections will be held under the present government as per the constitution, he said, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will remain as head of the government and the Election Commission (EC) will conduct the elections.

Sadar upazila Awami League (AL) president and Upazila Parishad chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain, vice hairman Md Yunus Mia, upazila AL general secretary Nazrul Islam Goalder and joint general secretary Sirajul Islam, among others, spoke at the programme.

Later, Tofail Ahmed also distributed rice among 4,000 fishermen in Rajapur union under VGF programme.
