DHAKA, Aug 11, 2014 (BSS) - Speakers at a series of discussions today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the Islamic Foundation soon after the Independence keeping in view further spread of the real Islamic ideas in the country.
They urged the devout Muslims to uphold and practice the Islamic tenets in all spheres of life, follow the ideals of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) and work together to build 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Father of the Nation.
The countrywide discussions were held at district and upazila levels under the supervision of the Islamic Foundation to mark the 39th Martyrdom anniversary of Father of Bangabandhu and National Mourning Day.
Local Members of Parliament, Deputy Commissioners, officials from Islamic Foundation and local elites took part in the discussions, highlighting the life-long sacrifices and struggle of the thousand years' Greatest Bangali, who brought the long-cherished freedom for his people through a nine-month bloody War of Liberation in 1971.
On the occasion of the National Mourning Day, Islamic Foundation has taken month-long programs including discussion, Qurankhawni, Quran-Hefz competition, Essay competition, Hamd-Naat, Ghazal and special milad-mahfil, an Islamic Foundation press release said.
