Grenade attacks linked with Bangabandhu's murder: Speakers

RANGPUR, Aug 31, 2016 (BSS) - The August 21 grenade attacks were linked with assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 as part of continuous conspiracies to make the nation leaderless and reverse independence.

Leaders of Bangladesh TNT Sramik Karmochari Federal Union made these observations at a memorial discussion organised by Rangpur region unit of the organisation at TNT Office premises here on Tuesday evening.

The discussion followed by doa mahfil was arranged to commemorate martyrs of August 15 and August 21 before seeking divine blessing for their departed souls in observance of the National Mourning Day- 2016 and August 21 heinous grenade attacks.

Acting President of district Awami League (AL) and Zila Parishad Administrator Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed attended the discussion as the chief guest with President of Rangpur regional TNT CBA Gawaherul Islam in the chair.

General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal attended the occasion as the special guest while Secretary General of the central committee of TNT CBA SMA Mukit Hiru took part as the main discussant.

President of the central committee of TNT Work-charged Sramik Karmochari Kallyan Samity Ruhul Quddus Tapan, President of its Rajshahi regional committee Sharif Ali and General Secretary of Rangpur regional TNT CBA Saiful Islam also spoke.

The speakers said the defeated forces of 1971, even after 45 years, have been hatching conspiracies to destabilise the country when the nation was marching fast to realise Bangabandhu's dream of building a prosperous and non-communal Sonar Bangla.

Ruhul Quddus Tapan said the vested quarters have been conducting militant attacks and killing innocent people to obstruct massive developments of the present government on its way to build a middle income Bangladesh by 2021, and developed country by 2041.

The chief guest called for turning the grief of Bangabandhu's assassination into energy to build an exploitation-free and developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu under leadership of his able daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He called upon the common people irrespective of caste, creed and religion for forging another rock-solid unity like that in 1971 to foil the new conspiracies being hatched to make Bangladesh a failed state by eliminating terrorism and militancy.
