National Mourning Day observed across country

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2017 (BSS) - The National Mourning Day commemorating the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed across the country today through various programmes.

Thousands of people from all strata participated in the programmes to pay their homage to the greatest Bangali of the all time.

They also raised demand for bringing back home the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu from abroad and execution of the court's verdict handed down to his killers in the Bangabandhu Murder Case.

In Rajshahi, people of Rajshahi and its adjoining districts observed the National Mourning Day and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due solemnity.

Various government and non-government organizations, political parties, socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions, including Rajshahi University and RUET, have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.

The district administration organised a discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil at the Shilpakala Academy Auditorium with Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.

The upazila administration and upazila units of AL and its front organisations and Muktijoddha Sangshad have also adopted day-long programmes to observe the day.

In Rangpur, the National Mourning Day-2017 and 42th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu.

The district administration, Rangpur City Corporation (RCC), Awami League (AL), its associate organisations, educational institutions and government departments chalked out elaborate daylong programmes to observe the Day in a befitting manner.

In Khulna, various government and non-government organizations, political parties, socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions, including KUET, have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day

MOURNING-DAY-COUNTRY 2 LAST DHAKA In Gaibandha, the National Mourning Day was observed in the district on the occasion of the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through various programmes.

As part of the observance of the day, the district administration arranged different programmes including mourning rally, milad mahfil and discussion.

In Netrokona, the National Mourning Day and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in the district through holding different programmes which included discussion and placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on the Mukta-mancha.

Quran Khawani, Milad mahfil and special prayers were held after Zohr prayers at Netrakona central Jam-e-mosque and other mosques across the district seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members, near and dear ones, who were killed on August 15 carnage.

In Faridpur, the National Mourning Day and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed with a pledge to convert shock into strength by translating Bangabandhu's dream of building a 'Sonar Bangla' into reality.

People from all walks, government and non-government organisations, political parties, socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions arranged elaborate programmes to observe the day.

The floral wreaths have been placed to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman at the historical ground Ambika memorial hall of the town on behalf of LGRD Minister Engineer Khandakaer Mosharraf Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Ummey Salma Tanzia, Zila Parishad Chairman Lokman Hossain Mridah , Superintendent of Police Suvash Chandra Saha .

In Chittagong, people of the port city and its adjacent districts paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 42th martyrdom anniversary.

The day was observed with a fresh vow to materializing the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build a 'Sonar Bangla' and bring back the fugitive convicted killers of Bangabandhu to execute the verdict of Bangabandhu Murder Case.

Apart from the Chittagong city, north and south district units of Awami League (AL) and its front organizations, different socio-cultural organizations, trade unions, district administration and professional bodies organized separate discussions marking the day.

In Mymensingh, the National Mourning Day and the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed with due respect.

Mymensingh district administration arranged different programmes, including placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, holding discussions and doa mahfil.

Besides, the National Mourning Day was also observed in other districts of the country including Natore, Tangail, Thakurgaon, Barguna, Noakhali, Nilphamari, Chuadanga, Pabna, Lalmonirhat, Narayanganj, Bagerhat, Narail, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Gopalganj, Meherpur, Sylhet, Jhalokati, Bogra, Moulvibazar, Joypurhat, Habiganj, Kushtia, Panchagarh, Shariatpur, Naogaon and Gazipur.

Thousands of people from all strata in these districts echoed the call for bringing back home the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu from abroad and execution of the court's verdict.
