Poor to get allowances through electronic payment system

DHAKA, May 16, 2018 (BSS) - Poor people, including the old, widow, deserted and destitute women and financially insolvent disabled will get all their allowances through electronic payment system as the government is going to launch Government to Person (G2P) payment system tomorrow.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the "MIS integrated G2P" payment system by providing maternity allowances to the allowance receivers of seven upazillas. The upazillas are Sonargaon, Srinagar, Savar, Tungipara, Kaliganj and Bhoirab.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki and Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum will be present as special guests. Finance Secretary Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury will chair the function.

Talking to BSS, Muslim Chowdhury said the government will gradually pay all the allowances through the electronic payment system.

"The poor people will get all allowances without hassles. An SMS will go to the receiver's mobile. We will pay the allowances as per the receiver's choice. They can choose bKash, Rocket or bank account," he added.
