Met office forecasts rain with squally wind

DHAKA, May 21, 2018 (BSS)-Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24-hours ending at 9 am tomorrow.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Chattogram and Barishal divisions and at many places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions," said a met bulletin issued this morning here.

A few places over Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions may see moderately heavy to heavy falls and hails at isolated places over the country in the next 24-hours commencing 9 am today, the bulletin added.

Seasonal low lies over South Bay while trough of westerly low lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area, extending its trough to North Bay, it continued.

Day temperature may rise slightly over northwestern part and it may fall by (1-2) Celsius elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

The maximum temperature was recorded 34.4 degrees Celsius yesterday at Dinajpur and Sayedpur in Rangpur division and today's minimum temperature 21.5 degrees Celsius at Rangamati in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24-hour as of 6 am today was recorded 107 mm at Tangail in Dhaka division.

The sun sets at 6:37 pm today and rises at 5:13 am tomorrow in the capital.
