Noted journalist Amanullah's birth anniversary tomorrow

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2012 (BSS)- Tomorrow is the 79th birth anniversary of noted journalist Amanullah.

He was born in a respectable political family of greater Barisal district on November 18 in 1933. His father BD Habibullah was a close associate of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq and took part in the 1954 Jukta Front Elections (United Front) from Patuakhali Sadar.

Amanullah started his career in journalism with now defunct English daily the Morning News as apprentice sub-editor in 1958 after obtaining MA degree in Political Science from Dhaka University in 1957.

He later joined Associate Press of Pakistan (APP) as its correspondent in 1959.

Amanullah also worked as Bangladesh correspondent of Voice of America, United Press International (UPI) and Daily Telegraph of London from 1972 to 1975.

He was Managing Director and Chief Editor of the national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) during the period from 1975 to 1977.
