Sayedee's counsel starts submitting arguments

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2012 (BSS) - The counsel of Delwar Hossain Sayedee today started submitting his arguments at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.

Advocate Mizanul Islam, counsel for the Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer,
started submitting his arguments on prosecution exhibit-1, which
is a complaint petition filed by prosecution witness (PW)-1,
Mahbubul Alam Hawlader.

Before starting his arguments, the defence counsel sought
adjournment for the day saying Barrister Abdur Razzak, chief
defence counsel, is absent as he is sick.

But the three-member panel of ICT-1 rejected the defence plea
and directed them to continue with the proceedings.

"Please start the proceedings and cooperate with us," the
tribunal said.

Earlier the prosecution submitted their arguments for nine
days starting from November 5 and finished on 15.

The formal charge against Sayedee was submitted before the
tribunal on July 11, 2011, and the tribunal took that into
cognizance on July 14.

On October 3 of the same year, the tribunal framed Sayedee on
20 counts of crimes against humanity.
