'Subhash Dutta's creations to be preserved'

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2012 (BSS) - Initiatives would be taken for preserving all creative works, including films, of the late legendary of Bengali film and actor Subhash Dutta, said his family members and film critics.

"Steps would be taken to broadcast his work at home and abroad aimed at keeping his memory alive," they said at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club here today.

Among others, film makers Shofi Bikrampuri, Morshedul Islam, photographer Rownak Hossain, Dutta's son Shibaji Dutta, daughter-
in-law Joya Dutta, grand children Ichchha Dutta, Purna Dutta and teacher Salma Ahmed were present.

The speakers said they would complete the Datta's unfinished film 'Begum Rokeya' and sought government's help in this regard.

Dutta virtually staged a revolution in the Bengali film industry with his first directed "Sutarang" in Bangla appearing himself as hero with Kabari being his counterpart in 1960.

The legendary Bengali filmmaker and actor Subhash Dutta was cremated yesterday amid state honour, a day after he breathed his
last due to old age ailments at his residence at 82.
