Govt. working for well-being of disabled: Nurul

DHAKA, May 20, 2018 (BSS) - Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc yesterday said the government is working for the well- being of the people with differently able.

"The physically challenged people are not burden of state...They should be given equal facilities like normal ones," he told a debate competition at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) here, an official release said.

Debate for Democracy organized the competition titled "Jukti Aloy Dekhi" for the visually impaired students.

Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, Prof Abu Mohammad Rois and professionals, among others, were present at the function.

Nurul said, "The people with differently able are more sincere than normal people in their workplaces. So, disabled people can make better contribution to the society, if they are given necessary facilities to unlock their inner talent."

He laid emphasis on changing mindset of the society as well as family to ensure their involvement in the mainstream of development.

Visually impaired students of Chittagong University and Eden Women College took part in the debate competition.
