Anti-liberation forces to be contained: HT Imam

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2016 (BSS) - Political Adviser to the Prime Minister HT Imam today said the anti-liberation forces should be eliminated totally.

"Those who wanted to swallow Bangladesh gradually assassinated Bangabandhu. They rehabilitated the killers of Bangabandhu for 21 years after the August 15, 1975 Carnage," he said.

HT Imam said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and feeding of the destitute programme organised by Bangladesh Bar Council at its office in the city marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Vice-chairman of the Bar Council and prominent lawyer Advocate Abdul Baset Mazumdar presided over the function, also addressed, among others, by chairman of the Bar Council Finance Committee Advocate SM Rezaul Karim.

Leaders of the Bar Council and a good number of lawyers attended the function organised for the first time by Bangladesh Bar Council marking the National Mourning Day.

Hailing the leaders of Bar Council, HT Imam said, "The Bar Council deserves appreciation for taking initiative for the first time in observance of the National Mourning Day. I would like to thank the leaders of the Bar Council for projecting the programmes of our bereavement before the people. Through this, they have created a stir in the judiciary."

Abdul Baset Mazumdar said, "We had a joint meeting with the leaders of 65 bars of the country including the Supreme Court Bar. At the meeting, the lawyers took a unanimous decision not to extend legal assistance to the militants. The Bar Council has been observing programmes on the National Mourning Day to create awareness against militancy."
