Met office predicts rain with thunderstorms

DHAKA, May 16, 2018 (BSS)-Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24 hours ending 9 am tomorrow.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions," said a met bulletin issued this morning here.

Moreover, a few places over Barisal division at isolated places over the country may see moderately heavy to heavy falls and hails in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today, the bulletin added. Seasonal low lies over South Bay while trough of low lies over Bihar and adjoining area.

Day temperature may fall by (1-2) oC and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, it added.

The maximum temperature was recorded 34.8 degrees celsius yesterday at Jashore in Khulna division and today's minimum temperature 19.8 degrees celsius at Kumarkhali in Khulna division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 82 mm at Nikli in Dhaka division.

The sun sets today at 6:34 pm and rises at 5:15 am tomorrow in the capital.
