BD's progress distinctly noticeable: Indian envoy

CHATTOGRAM, May 27, 2018 (BSS) - Assistant High Commissioner of India in Chittagong Anindya Banerjee today said that Bangladesh's progress and prosperity are distinctly noticeable and the people of India are very much pleased with this.

"The per capita income of Bangladesh has increased to three times higher in last one decade," he told a view-exchange meeting with journalists at Chattogram Press Club (CPC) auditorium here this evening.

Speaking about the simplification of visa procedure, Mr Banerjee said at present, 95 percent Bangladeshi citizens are getting two days Indian visa.

He said seven lakh people of Bangladesh got Indian visa in 2014, nearly 15 lakh got the visa in 2015 and the number will reach to 20 lakh in next few months.

"Though once single visa was issued now, the Indian High Commission is issuing multiple visa," he said.

With CPC Pesident Kalim Sorwar in the chiar, it was addressed, among others, by Pankaj Dastider, Biswajit Chowdhury, Faruk Iqbal, Omar Kaiser, Jashim Chowdhury Sabuj, A K M Zahurul Islam and CPC Secretary Suklal Das, joint secretary Chowdhury Farid and Finance Secretary Devdulal Bhoumik.
